Donors

The mission of the Amarillo Area Foundation is two-fold: To give help to those in need and to help those who have a need to give. We are blessed to live in a region of wise and generous donors. They give of themselves, but more importantly, they expect stewardship of their gifts and measurable results for individuals and our communities. If we give wisely of our resources, multiple talents, and work with our neighbors, our gifts will build a future of opportunities and hope.

2015 was a banner year! The Foundation received over $14.5 million in contributions in 2015 and invested over $15 million in projects and programs to improve lives and create equity for the future of individuals in the Texas Panhandle. Twenty-two new funds were established; over $950,000 was given in scholarships; over $200,000 for membership programs to impact community programs; and over $7 million from Harrington Regional Medical Center to provide the best healthcare services and medical education opportunities for our region.

For the first time in our history, the Foundation received over $2 million from energy and utility companies to improve education and community services in our counties. There were 381 new donors to the Foundation giving $8 million and $2.5 million was given by donors living in other areas of our state or country. The Amarillo Area Foundation’s Women’s Philanthropy Fund was recognized for giving $250,000 in grants since its inception to support the needs of women and children. There are 577 donors who are members of the Legacy Fund that recognizes cumulative gifts of $10,000 or more; over 2,000 donors have given more than $9 million to the ACE Scholarship Program since 1994.

As we engage in services to one or many donors, we are committed to the needs and expectations of individuals, families, groups, nonprofit organizations, foundations, and corporations. We accept our responsibility to make the connections for today for the givers of tomorrow.

Thank you for entrusting the Amarillo Foundation with your many gifts so that we can continue the important work that was planned for us 59 years ago.
