Legacy Giving

Commenting once on her work as a philanthropist, Mrs. Harrington said: “Giving money away is hard work. But I got a kick out of it. I felt important for once in my life.’’

A designated beneficiary is a charitable organization named in 1988 by The Don and Sybil Harrington Foundation to receive a specified percentage of Harrington Foundation net income, which is calculated annually. In 2015, each beneficiary also received supplemental grants.

Mrs. Harrington chose to allocate funding in perpetuity to the following beneficiaries because their work focused on aspects of the community most dear to her heart: youth engagement, social services, education, and healthcare.
